Overview

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the world's most iconic Himalayan adventures, taking you deep into Nepal's legendary Khumbu region and to the foot of Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain.

Following the classic trail from Lukla, the journey passes through colourful Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, pine and rhododendron forests, dramatic suspension bridges and the high-altitude landscapes of the Khumbu Valley.

The route gradually climbs from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorak Shep before reaching Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres. The adventure reaches its spectacular climax with an early-morning hike to Kala Patthar, one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, where the first light illuminates Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori and the surrounding Himalayan giants. This carefully designed 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary includes two acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, allowing trekkers to gain altitude progressively rather than rushing through the Khumbu.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu

    1,400m3 star accomodation

Welcome to Nepal, the gateway to the Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax and recover from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore the vibrant streets of Thamel or simply enjoy your first evening in Nepal. Later, your trekking team will provide a detailed briefing about the Everest Base Camp Trek, including the route, altitude, safety procedures and preparation for the journey ahead.

  2. Day 2

Fly Kathmandu to Lukla & Trek to Phakding

    2,860m5 hrs walkingStandard Lodge

Your Himalayan adventure begins with a scenic flight towards Lukla, the famous mountain gateway to the Everest region. After landing at Lukla, you meet your trekking crew and begin walking through the beautiful Dudh Koshi Valley. The trail passes through small Sherpa settlements, prayer wheels, mani stones, suspension bridges and forested landscapes before reaching Phakding. This relatively short first trekking day allows your body to begin adjusting to the altitude while giving you your first taste of the legendary Khumbu trail.

  3. Day 3

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    3,440m5-7 hrs walkingStandard Lodge

Today marks your first major ascent of the Everest Base Camp Trek. Following the Dudh Koshi River, the trail crosses several suspension bridges and enters Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After passing through Monjo and Jorsale, the trail gradually becomes steeper as you climb towards Namche. The final ascent brings you to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa capital and one of the most important settlements in the Everest region. On a clear day, you may catch your first glimpse of Everest.

  4. Day 4

    Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

    3,440m2-3 hrs walkingStandard Lodge

Today is dedicated to acclimatization. Rather than remaining completely inactive, we follow the principle of “climb high, sleep low.” A popular acclimatization hike takes you towards the Everest View Hotel, offering magnificent panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and surrounding peaks. You can also explore Namche's colourful market streets, Sherpa culture, local cafés and the Sagarmatha National Park visitor centre. The afternoon is reserved for relaxation and preparation for the higher elevations ahead.

  5. Day 5

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    3,860m5-6 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Leaving Namche behind, the trail follows a spectacular mountain ridge with some of the finest views of Everest and Ama Dablam. The route gradually descends towards the Dudh Koshi River before climbing through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests. Your destination is Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual centre of the Khumbu region. Surrounded by some of Nepal's most impressive peaks, Tengboche is one of the most memorable overnight stops on the entire Everest Base Camp route.

  6. Day 6

    Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

    4,410m5-6 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Today the landscape begins to change dramatically. The trail descends through forests before reaching Pangboche, one of the oldest permanent settlements in the Khumbu. From here, the vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as you enter the higher Imja Valley. Magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Island Peak and other Himalayan giants accompany you throughout the day. Eventually, you arrive at Dingboche, a picturesque high-altitude settlement surrounded by stone-walled fields.

  7. Day 7

    Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

    4,410m2-4 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Another essential acclimatization day allows your body to adjust to the thin mountain air. After breakfast, you can take a gradual hike above Dingboche towards the surrounding ridges for panoramic views of Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Island Peak. The remainder of the day is spent resting, hydrating and preparing for the high-altitude section of the trek. This acclimatization stop is particularly important because the route now climbs rapidly towards 5,000 metres and above.

  8. Day 8

    Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

    4,940m4-5 hrs walkingStandard lodge

The trail now enters the true high-altitude environment of the Everest region. From Dingboche, the route climbs gradually towards Dughla before ascending to the memorial area dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest and other Himalayan peaks. The atmosphere becomes increasingly dramatic as the trail continues alongside the Khumbu Glacier. With Nuptse and the surrounding Himalayan walls towering above you, you eventually reach Lobuche.

  9. Day 9

Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep – Everest Base Camp

    5,364m7-8 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Today is the moment you have been waiting for. After breakfast, the trail continues towards Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. After a short break, you begin the trek towards Everest Base Camp. The landscape becomes rugged and surreal as you walk alongside the Khumbu Glacier and moraine. The surrounding peaks appear increasingly massive, with the Khumbu Icefall dominating the horizon. Finally, you arrive at the legendary Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres. Take time to celebrate this achievement, capture photographs and absorb the atmosphere of standing at the base of the world's highest mountain. You then return to Gorak Shep for the night.

  10. Day 10

Trek from Gorak Shep to Pheriche via Kalapatthar

    5,545m7-8 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Wake before sunrise for one of the most spectacular experiences of the Everest Base Camp Trek. The pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar leads to the highest point of the journey, approximately 5,545 metres. As the sun rises, the Himalayan peaks gradually glow in the morning light. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy extraordinary panoramas of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori and the surrounding Khumbu landscape. After spending time at Kala Patthar, descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast before continuing downhill towards Pheriche. The descent is physically demanding but feels considerably easier as the air becomes denser.

  11. Day 11

Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

    3,440m6-7 hrs walkingStandard lodge

With the major objective accomplished, the journey now heads back towards the lower Khumbu. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi Valley, passing through Pangboche and Tengboche before continuing towards Namche Bazaar. The changing landscape is remarkable as barren high-altitude terrain gradually gives way to greener forests. Arriving back in Namche feels like returning to civilization after several days in the high mountains.

  12. Day 12

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    2,860m6-7 hrs walkingStandard lodge

Today is your final full trekking day. The trail descends through the Dudh Koshi Valley, crossing suspension bridges and passing through familiar villages that you visited at the beginning of your journey. As you approach Lukla, the realization that your Everest Base Camp adventure is coming to an end begins to sink in. Celebrate the completion of your trek with your guides and porters before enjoying your final evening in the Everest region.

  13. Day 13

    Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

    1,400m3 star accomodation

After breakfast, transfer to Lukla Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. The Himalayan landscapes gradually disappear beneath the clouds as you leave the Everest region behind. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a well-earned rest. The afternoon can be spent exploring Kathmandu, shopping for souvenirs or relaxing after your Himalayan adventure. Pashupatinath & Boudhanath sightseeing with traditional nepali cuisine as a farewell dinner.
